It took me a long time to discover this week’s hidden gem even though it had its own MV, and one of the reasons why I am doing this series is to share b-sides that deserve to be discovered. It is not only about me sharing songs that I think deserve love. You also have the opportunity to share your hidden gems to me and to the other people reading this blog. I randomly discovered TRAUMA on Youtube when Rolling Stone posted a video of SEVENTEEN performing Pinwheel, TRAUMA and Lilili Yabbay.
Despite being named SEVENTEEN they are “only” 13 members. 13 members + 3 units + 1 group = SEVENTEEN. They debuted in 2015 under Pledis Entertainment with the debut song Adore U, and is a staple group that any K-pop fan should know about.
TRAUMA is the 7th song on their 2nd album TEEN, AGE, released in 2017 with the title track CLAP. TRAUMA is a song by the Hip-Hop unit: S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon. It is written by the members themself about their personal struggles and fears. The song is so different from the usual SEVENTEEN, and I think it showcases the strength and talent of the Hip-Hop unit.
