Hidden Gems Episode 5 | PLAYBOY – EXO

Hidden Gems is a series where I share my favorite b-sides every wednesday. In Hidden Gems we discover new b-sides that deserve some extra love and appreciation. You are more than welcome to recommend b-sides for me to check out.

This week’s song is definitely not for all K-pop fans. The title is already quite revealing, but it’s a mature and sexy song which is not suitable for the youngest of K-pop fans, and it’s PLAYBOY by EXO

PLAYBOY was released in March 2015 with their 2nd album EXODUS. PLAYBOY is a sexy R&B/hip hop track written and composed by the former SHINee member Jonghyun. The song is about the sensual tension of two people who are attracted to each other and are playing push & pull.

I’m a 100% straight guy, but I can not be mesmerized seeing Kai perform this song. Every concert performance of this song should be illegal. It’s actually a danger to people’s health. EXO are amazing in doing sexy and seductive songs like Love Shot, Tempo & Obsession. The songs themself are sexy, but they take them to the next level with their vocals and performance. If you like any of those title tracks by EXO you will surely love PLAYBOY.

Title Track Worthy?
Is there a world where PLAYBOY is the title track instead of CALL ME BABY? I don’t think so, CALL ME MAYBE is freaking amazing and PLAYBOY thrive more as a b-side. PLAYBOY lacks the impact of a title track and needs changes to the song for it to be considered as title track.
